I know that I've been missing in action for many, many, many months, and for that, I apologize. So, let me make it up to all of you right now: Happy...May Day, Cinco de Mayo, Mother's Day, Memorial Day, Father's Day, 4th of July, Labor Day and Columbus Day. I'm giving a 'shout out' to all of you with summer birthdays! And, let me also say that these months have been filled with summer fun and back-to-school woes!
We spent the month of June "sweating it up" in Texas. While there, we celebrated the big-big boy's graduation from James Madison High School, visited Shamu at Sea World-San Antonio, and shuttled the little-big boy to and from space camp. We returned home, just in time for 4th of July fireworks beside the Mississippi River and two more summer camps -- Slime Camp & Disney Princess Camp. Even though the summer flew by, I did find time to do some crafting.
Early in the summer, I created some "Little Man" onesies and t-shirts, similar to this, but as my brain vacationed along with me, I failed in taking pictures of those sweet, little 'masculini-TEES'. I made a onesie and gave it to an expectant mother for a baby shower gift. I also made a matching onesie & t-shirt combo for my cousin's two boys. The fun part of this story is that my cousin's boys wore their shirts to the other recipient's shower. Both mothers were very excited about their gifts, and that makes me very, very happy!
The next project was created for a darling, little princess....my darling, little princess. Though we have almost every princess dress in our playroom closet, wearing those dresses to camp was not happening. The Princess camp included dance instruction, a very fun addition to the camp, but impossible to do in long, princess gowns. So, Mom to the rescue! I cut, gathered, and stitched four princess aprons to be worn over her comfy summer clothing. I cut each apron from a fat quarter of fabric and used one additional fat quarter, in white, for some of the details. These were crafted quickly, so they were not lined, and I only used seams to keep any fraying edges from moving too far. Pictures were taken of these creations, but I will add them to another post within the next few days. Wow; I just got back to writing to you all, and I'm already 'baiting the hook'.
August was filled with back-to-school preparations, because the first day of school was the 15th. My little-but-big boy entered second grade and a traditional school setting for the very first time. As if that monumental event weren't enough, he celebrated his seventh birthday....one week before school started. Earlier I mentioned back-to-school woes, and we suffered through a few weeks of those. Bless my sweet baby's heart!! He learned many things about the business of attending school very quickly and maintained his positivity and sunny disposition through it all! I greatly appreciate that about this little person! Now, two months later, he's an old pro. Thankfully, learning new things and seeing his buddies still keep him excited for every next day. His Dad and I are extremely proud of him!
September brought the start of preschool and dance classes for our Little Miss Miss and was all about maintaining the newly established routines. But please note, our family cannot let a month pass without adding in a major event. So, Saturday the 24th, we held a belated birthday party for Mr. Bear. We invited his class (Yes, the whole class!) to a 'Minute to Win It' Party. The two Grandmoms came from out of state to celebrate with us, and it was a fantastic day! I also have great pictures of this and many stories to share -- also to be continued in another post, another day.
Now that October is here, we have many fun events around town that we must attend. We'll be visiting the Family Museum & the Botanical Center for Halloween parties, and we'll go to Mr. Bear's school for a night of Halloween carnival fun. Each kiddo will also celebrate on the 28th with a class party. And no 'to-do' list is complete without trick-or-treating, so, we'll have many more tales to tell.
I look forward to connecting with all of you again through these writings and photos and
Happy Fall Y'all! Have a very Blessed day!
